Endowed Funds
HSPVA Friends’ endowment is comprised of several endowed funds. These funds were created by individual donors, and most are restricted to specific programs or departments.
Endowed funds are invested in a diversified portfolio overseen by the HSPVA Friends Finance Committee and stewarded by outside investment managers. Endowment income grows over time and provides a stream of income in perpetuity. The estimated value of the endowment is $1.2 million, and the average annual spending rate is 4%.
HSPVA Friends is honored to steward the following established endowed funds benefiting Kinder HSPVA students:
- The Dr. R. Scott Allen Endowment: provides special opportunities for Theatre students
- The William Franklin Carleton Endowment Fund: provides special opportunities for Dance students

Create a New Endowed Fund
HSPVA Friends gratefully accepts contributions to its endowment, the interest of which provides annual support for Kinder HSPVA students in perpetuity. Creating a new endowed fund is a way to make a significant contribution to Kinder HSPVA while also building a permanent relationship with the school. To create an endowment, HSPVA Friends recommends that initial gifts or pledges be $50,000 or more, with the intent to build the fund up over time. It is the policy of HSPVA Friends that endowments begin at no less than $25,000.
