Each fall, the Creative Writing students attend the Texas Book Festival in Austin, where they participate in workshops, see the industry in action, and meet their favorite authors, like Chuck Palahniuk, pictured above! This trip is accessible to all Creative Writing students thanks to the generous support of the Guild.

The Creative Writing Guild is a volunteer group that supports the HSPVA Creative Writing Department by organizing fundraising activities and providing volunteers for department programs. The Guild is open to all parents, guardians, relatives, and friends of current Creative Writing students.

The Guild’s most important fundraisers are the Annual Fund Drive and the Middle School Workshop. Collected funds restock necessary supplies, underwrite various department field trips, and provide stipends for visiting guest artists and lecturers.
