Photographer Mark Seliger (Media ’77) releases new book On Christopher Street: Transgender Stories
Best known for his celebrity portraiture, and as HSPVA’s 2015 Distinguished Alumnus, in his new book Seliger photographs more than 70 trans people on Christopher Street, a West Village haven for LGBT people a few blocks from his studio. The bold black and white photographs celebrate a community standing strong in the face of rampant gentrification.

Matt Mullenweg (Instrumental ’02, 2013 Distinguished Alumnus) is one of five recipients of a 2016 Heinz Award. His open-source website and blogging platform WordPress earned him the award for Technology, the Economy and Employment. Mullenweg was also named one of Fortune Magazine’s 40 Under 40. Robert Glasper (Instrumental ‘97) appeared in an NPR Tiny Desk Concert from the White House with hip hop artist Common. The concert took place in the White House library as part of South by South Lawn, a day-long festival featuring innovators in technology and art. Watch it here!
