Last week kicked off the 45th school year at The High School for the Performing and Visual Arts, and we welcomed new students and faculty into the HSPVA family. We would like to congratulate three alums on their new roles at HSPVA. David Waddell (Visual ’99) is the new chair of the Visual Arts Department. Vicki Fowler (Visual ’92) has joined the Visual Arts faculty as the performance art and social practices instructor. In the Theatre Department, Matt Hune (Theatre ’03) is the new acting instructor. Our students are incredibly lucky to learn from their experience and expertise.
HSPVA Friends’ 2016-2017 Annual Giving Campaign is underway. HSPVA provides an exceptional education for your student, and we need your help to fill the substantial gap between the HISD budget and the curriculum requirements of a pre-professional arts training program. Thanks to gifts from donors like you, HSPVA teachers and students returned from summer to find new supplies, equipment, and technology in their classrooms. Donate now and show your support for arts education in Houston!
This year, we look forward to honoring the traditions of our alumni and to charging forward into new learning opportunities with our teachers, students, families, and the city of Houston! One of the best ways to support HSPVA is to be an audience member, so keep an eye on the calendar. We have so much planned for this year.
See you around campus!
