A Dream Becomes a Reality

Kinder High School for the Performing and Visual Arts is a school that means so much to so many. Whether you’re an alumnus, parent, or faculty member, from the original campus or the Montrose campus, you know that the spirit of the school is what makes it so special. We’re thrilled to finally have the opportunity our students have always deserved: a custom, right-sized campus in the heart of downtown Houston, where students have access to the top-notch facilities and equipment required for a well-rounded arts education, as well as easy access to all of Houston’s major arts organizations.

Kinder HSPVA’s new campus, designed by Gensler and built by McCarthy Building Companies, optimizes the integration of arts and academics. The project received substantial funding of $80.2 million from the 2012 HISD bond election and a groundbreaking ceremony was held in December 2014. Construction began in February 2016 with the understanding that additional funding would be required to bridge the gap between the bond funding and the school’s specific needs.

In an unprecedented public-private partnership, HSPVA Friends has committed to raise $10 million to complete and equip the campus and to ensure that the campus is well maintained and can be used to its full potential for years to come.

Will you help us make this opportunity all that it can be?

Your gift will provide Houston’s talented and hardworking students with access to the best arts education possible – an opportunity that is open to any young artist with the dreams and the drive.

When you drive by the new campus or stop in for a performance, you will know that your gift has helped to build the extraordinary, securing Kinder HSPVA’s place as the nation’s leader in public arts education.

The campaign will provide the features that make Kinder HSPVA a specialized school for the arts.
