We will miss you, Dr. Allen!
This June, we celebrate and wish a fond farewell to beloved Kinder HSPVA principal, Dr. Scott Allen. Dr. Allen’s accomplished twelve-year tenure at Kinder HSPVA caps off a distinguished career as an educator and administrator in the state of Texas, and while we’ll miss him terribly, his retirement is well earned!
Dr. Scott Allen came to HSPVA in 2009, after serving as the principal at Mildred Jenkins Elementary School in the Spring ISD and an assistant principal at Lakeland Elementary School in the Humble ISD. His teaching experiences, with a focus on teaching speech and English and directing theatre, were shared between Hays High School (Hays Consolidated ISD), Calallen High School (Calallen ISD), and Humble High School (Humble ISD). He holds a bachelor of fine arts degree from Texas State University with an emphasis on directing. From Sam Houston State University, Dr. Allen earned his master’s and doctorate in educational administration.
And though he treasures the Houston Astros, Dr. Allen’s first passion was the theatre. He focused on stage managing and directing while at Texas State, and these passions resulted in his thesis project— directing a production of The Shadow Box. During his years of teaching high school, Dr. Allen spent two summers working in theatre in New York City. The highlight of this time was the opportunity to stage manage an off-Broadway production of August Strindberg’s The Father.
