Callie Holley (Theatre ’18) has been named a 2022 Marshall Scholar. The award will provide financial support for graduate study in the United Kingdom. She plans to pursue an MA in Black Studies from the University of Birmingham and an MA in Producing for Film and Television from Royal Holloway University of London.
Robert Glasper (Inst. ’97) released Black Radio 3 in February, the third installment in his Grammy-winning Black Radio series. It has also been announced he will compose original music for the television series Bel-Air, which stars fellow alum Olly Sholotan (Theatre ’15).
Olly Sholotan (Theatre ’15) co-stars as Carleton in the new series Bel-Air, produced by Will Smith. In a recent interview, he shared how HSPVA shaped his success: “My experience at ‘PVA turned me into the artist I am today.”

Seth Parker Woods (Instrumental ’03) received the Michael Jaffee Visionary Award, which recognizes “promising, creative thinkers and innovators who are challenging traditional models and have recently had—or are on the way to having—a noticeable impact on the ensemble music field.” Learn more about his work here.
Courtney Jones (Dance ’99 and current Dance Faculty) was honored with a “Women of Achievement” award at the annual Hearts of Gold gala.
Josh Inocencio (current English Faculty and former Creative Writing consultant) was named 2022 TCTELA High School ELA Teacher of the Year.
Dr. Aziza Glass (Vocal ’06) appears in Disney’s Roman to the Rescue and was recently featured in the Houston Chronicle.
Dustin Kaufman (Inst. ’05) was interviewed about his virtual music school by Netflix co-founder Marc Randolph on his podcast “That Will Never Work.”
Devyn Tyler (Theatre ’09) is a series regular on the drama Snowfall for Season 5.
Mariachi Los Pasajeros, the Varsity Mariachi ensemble at Kinder HSPVA, received the highest possible ratings at the UIL regional competition, and will compete at the state level in late February.
Cameron J. Ross (Theatre ’06) was selected as a member of the 2022 Creative Class by The Creative Collective NYC.
Adam Nelson (Theatre ’87) visited Kinder HSPVA with his friend and client, the actor Matthew Modine. Nelson is the founder and CEO of Workhouse PR and shared with Theatre students about his career. Modine provided a masterclass for Theatre students.

Creative Writers Kate-Yeonjae Jeong (’24) and Matthew Jeong (’25) developed the Light Up Network to provide art therapy events for seniors, including a recent collage workshop with other Kinder HSPVA students: “Over their creations, the students and seniors engaged in conversations. The art-therapy event was filled with laughter and friendship, and the energy was lively. It was a beautiful moment to create art and share our common love for it.”
Farell Marblestone Diamond (Vocal ’93), Matthew Jamison (Theatre ’10), and Chiarra Elayda Stratton (Inst. ’93) will co-chair the Encore 50 After-Party, to be held at Axelrad Beer Garden — a popular spot co-owned by alum Monte Large (Visual Arts ’06).
