THE CRUCIBLE
Set during the 1692 Salem witch trials, The Crucible is a gripping drama that explores the destructive power of mass hysteria, paranoia, and religious extremism. When a group of young girls accuse innocent townsfolk of witchcraft to protect themselves, the community unravels into an environment of fear and score-settling. Arthur Miller wrote The Crucible as a direct allegorical response to the House Un-American Activities Committee (HUAC) hearings and the broader anti-communist hysteria of McCarthyism.
