The Dr. Joseph Orlando Creative Writing Scholarship Fund

The Dr. Joseph Orlando Creative Writing Scholarship Fund at Kinder HSPVA

Dr. Joseph Orlando was a beloved member of the HSPVA faculty from 1973 to 1995, serving as both the Media Department Coordinator and an English teacher. In keeping with Dr. Orlando’s career of encouraging young writers, his wife, Hope, and their son, Jason (Instrumental Music ‘95) have established the Dr. Joseph Orlando Creative Writing Scholarship Fund in his memory.

The Orlando Fund assists students in the Creative Writing Department at Kinder High School for the Performing and Visual Arts in Houston, Texas. Freshmen, sophomores, and juniors may receive financial assistance for art supplies and technology, field trips, summer programs, and other special educational opportunities for which the cost would otherwise be prohibitive.

HSPVA Friends is honored to build on Dr. Orlando’s esteemed legacy by supporting future generations of writers. On behalf of the Orlando family, thank you for your support.

HSPVA Friends is the 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that supports Kinder High School for the Performing and Visual Arts. Your donation is tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law. We will notify the Orlando family of all gifts.

If you prefer to make your gift by check, please make the check out to “HSPVA Friends” and put “Orlando Fund” in the memo line. Checks may be mailed to HSPVA Friends – PO Box 52910 – Houston, Texas 77052.
