In memory of Ms. Betty “Duchess” Anderson

The three grandchildren of Ms. Betty “Duchess” Anderson all graduated from The High School for the Performing and Visual Arts’ Instrumental Music Department.

They have established the Betty “Duchess” Anderson Jazz Scholarship Fund, in memory of their grandmother. She was their greatest fan and significantly influenced their musical aspirations. Until her death at age 81, she was still performing as a singer and pianist in her community in Central Texas.

Donations will fund scholarships to be awarded to: 1) a senior jazz ensemble student graduating in 2019-20 from the Kinder HSPVA Instrumental Music Department pursuing a degree in jazz studies, and 2) a jazz ensemble student in his/her junior year who will be attending a jazz camp during the summer of 2020.

HSPVA Friends is the 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that supports Kinder High School for the Performing and Visual Arts. Donations are tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law.
